Atlantic County, NJ – In response to Governor Murphy’s recently issued mask mandate for the upcoming school year, Senator Vince Polistina and his assembly running mates, Don Guardian and Claire Swift, issued the below statement:

“After lockdowns, school shutdowns, closed businesses, and ever-changing guidance from Governor Murphy and his Administration, New Jersey residents are understandably frustrated.  The fact that many parents are objecting to another year of masked children in our schools should surprise no one.  There is ample evidence to prove that children are less susceptible to contracting COVID, less likely to transmit it to others, and less likely to have their health impacted.  For those reasons, as we head towards a new school year, the decision as to whether a child should wear a mask or not should be left to parents and local school districts, not the state.  Local people are far more capable of making decisions about their community than politicians and bureaucrats in Trenton.”
